day two of the jackson c.frank days.
so jackson has a second life in england. but then he gets ill and returns to america ending up homeless on the streets of new york (from about 1984 to the early 90ies).
some friends manage to rescue him and get him away to woodstock. he records again (the kitchen tapes 1997). some songs co-written with jim abbott (later his biographer).
frank dies in great barrington, massachusetts, from a combination of pneumonia and cardiac arrest, on march 3, 1999, at the age of 56.
--------------------------------------------
major changes in the structure of global capitalism.
the effective (re-)partition of the world into two blocks. two capitalisms. acceleration of decarbonisation on the basis of energy security. and does anyone remember grosny? (do they fuck).
horsemouth sees only bad things coming out of the war in ukraine. granted russia could collapse under the effect of sanctions - but do you seriously want to run the risk of collapsing a nuclear power? and what would it look like after? like iraq, libya, syria, afghanistan? does anyone remember the high hopes that inspired those projects?
horsemouth has survived past the age of 56. it looked a bit touch and go there for a while (what with the plague and all). he seems to have slumped into a late-50ies-going-on-late-60ies kind of lifestyle. things seem to be holding up financially. he listened to an interesting documentary on covid deniers/ anti-lockdown activists in shrewsbury. he finds them all very recognisable and relatable.
horsemouth needs to re-establish connections with the medical and dental professions. he gave up on them at some point in the noughties but he recognises that if he is going to get old he's going to need to arrange matters better.
