it's the day of the local elections. horsemouth should go out and get his votes in (lord mayor, london assembly, local councillors).

meanwhile (on the subject of great british naval failures) were you aware that queen elizabeth managed to suppress the humiliating truth of drake’s counter-armada to attack coruña and lisbon in 1589 so brilliantly that for three centuries no englishman was aware of it.

it's only the local elections but the finances are fucked as a result of covid and the conservatives would probably only bail out one of their own (and even then only to a limited extent).  only the spare seats in the london assembly are PR.
