horsemouth the honest

'a new past from which we would prefer to be descended' - paolo virno, déjà vu and the end of history

horsemouth is up and he has his coffee. he's up later than usual because TG appeared at his bedroom window at about midnight (having locked himself out whilst feeding the cats - oh the drama). horsemouth had left his own phone in his rucksack and so missed all the distress calls made on TG's neighbour's phone. horsemouth keeps a spare set of TG's keys and so was able to be of use (he does like being useful).

horsemouth's blog has been praised for its 'third party perspective and the dry and incisive humour'. the respondent liked horsemouth's 'writing style and honesty'.

thank you replies horsemouth.

however horsemouth doesn't think he deserves praise for honesty.

instead of honesty horsemouth gives people detail ('horsemouth is up and he has his coffee. he's up later than usual...') it's not that horsemouth is dishonest (particularly/ as some have claimed) but, as his friend enza pointed out, the stuff to watch out for is the stuff in brackets.

horsemouth's deployment of brackets is at the heart of his style (oh yes it is).

horsemouth is also careful what  he tells people. you will find much here on horsemouth's thinking, his opinions on politics and the ruling class, you will find reflections on his reading, viewing, listening, you will find boosterish descriptions of the music etc. that himself and his friends are making, what you won't find is any deep emotional (and truly honest) discussions of what horsemouth is feeling.

horsemouth's plan is to portray a calm, quiet existence in this he is helped by his current existence that is fairly calm and quiet (excepting TG's midnight apparitions).

yesterday horsemouth and TG went for a wander in the olympic park. they had great fun larking about. horsemouth misremembered an early flux of pink indians song as ten years too late (ten years too late for what?) and it seemed to fit with the current ten years of the olympic park celebrations. at some point they paused for coffee and they were delayed in this by an ATM/ cash card outage  (8.50-10.30am).

for the day's reading horsemouth polished off the collecting sections of the FT (art market blah rather than gardening porn) and made more progress with the paolo virno (which he is going to have to re-read and summarise later because he's out of practice reading theory).

the hawkbinge podcast has re-appeared (with profuse apologies for its lateness). they are into the eighties and dealing with church of hawkwind (essentially an album of demos). the youngster is briskly honest about what he likes and doesn't like. the next time choose your masques which horsemouth thinks is another dull album (although he was surprised by how much the youngster found to like on sonic attack).

a friend has got a play on stuart maconie's freakzone (well done dude). horsemouth is envious.

today? well it's a beautiful day.
