preparations for a dawn raid

today horsemouth went up to the storage unit in highams park with his friend (to check that eveything is good for their remove tomorrow morning).

tomorrow morning horsemouth will go up early in the morning to help with the remove before diving off by train to the phoenix office for a meeting about decarbonisation. he will then be done for the day (broadly) and will return home to recover. it will be about 1 o'clock.

today having taken the train from clapton up to highams park they took the bus down into walthamstow to visit the william morris museum

the main visiting exhibition space was shut (once again - they seem to have no luck with it).

they had a look at some of the japanese prints upstairs (some hokusai and hiroshige) persumably owned by brangwyn. one guy had moved to london in 1910 and did a japanese woodblock print of bournemouth.

'urushibara moved to london from tokyo in 1910, becoming a key figure in the revival of colour woodcut printing in britain. this print shows the seaside town of bournemouth. after the outbreak of the second world war he was forced to repatriate to japan. brangwyn expressed concern that after 30 years his friend was 'ordered to clear out of the country', which would be 'hard on the poor man... who will be a stranger in his own country'.'

they called in at the salvation army across the way but horsemouth could find nothing that interested him enough to put his hand in his pocket.

they then began the long march back to hackney. (taking it in the reverse of their usual direction). they paused at the filter beds cafe for coffee (and a glass of water).

once home a somewhat knackered horsemouth insisted on having a lie down, some beans on toast and various cups of tea until he had enough energy back to go for a short walk round the neighbourhood. later diner (tvp mince, sweetcorn, peas, red onions, plum tomatoes and pasta).

they will be up at evil am in the morning to do the remove.

there was the possibility of meeting up with minty and max et al. (but sadly horsemouth was too knackered to go and recognised the necessity of getting a good night's sleep before tomorrow's dawn raid).

horsemouth did the evil am remove with john (it went well) and then went off to his meeting on the decarbonisation of everything. on his way he passed classes of protesting school-shildren from st. dominic's 'save our school' they chanted (horsemouth gave them the obligatory clenched fist salute).

this evening diner with a friend. friday horsemouth does his own remove to wierdshire.
