'the small type on the back of tramway tickets, letters tossed into the garbage, weathered newspapers caught under my bench in the park'

'once I had learned to read my letters I read everything: books, but also notices, advertisements, the small type on the back of tramway tickets, letters tossed into the garbage, weathered newspapers caught under my bench in the park, graffiti, the back covers of magazines held by other readers on the bus...'

 - alberto manguel, a history of reading.

this is going well.

there was a mari lwyd in grosmont last night  (but horsemouth couldn't go because he lacked transport). there's an experimental films with live sound track down in llanwarne at the end of the month (but horsemouth suspects he won't be able to go to that either),

the government have published their warm homes plan and there's a video with a (presumably AI generated) man and a woman presenting it in american accents. horsemouth is inspired, it seems so relevant to him.

meanwhile the news continues to be full of the ECO4 scandal where homes were insulated using money collected in fines from badly behaved power companies and the installers they hired did a shoddy job.

a week to the end of the month and st.brigid's day

meanwhile in minneapolis  ICE agents have killed another US citizen (or so it is reported). horsemouth wonders if the aim isn't to provoke an insurrection to justify trump using the insurrection act.

'the inclusion of by any other means can leave open the possibility of a force not formally under the control of the department of defense being authorized by the president to act under the auspices of the insurrection act.'

as far as horsemouth understands it in theory the governors of the state would still have to give permission but trump may just steamroller over that.
