and so this is christmas (eve) and what have you done...
the horsemouth folk guest dj golden glow winter solstice series comes to an end. (enjoy)
so here we have a photo of horsemouth wearing a drawing of his own face.
the drawing was drawn by howard based on a photo taken immediately before the summer concert just off brick lane that served horsemouth as a birthday celebration that year (if it wasn't quite his birthday then never mind). 25th august 2017.
the drawing now resides downstairs from where horsemouth types this. if he looks anxious then that's because he was (anxious). they're killing time, it's before a gig and they will be getting a cab down.
the hat and the black cloak form part of horsemouth's magician costume in the film the fall of the house of fitzgerald (2020). this was a film made by himself, suke and enza during the pandemic in response to the announcement of the eviction of the block. contrary to what they thought would happen at the time fitzgerald house still stands empty and undemolished (four or so years later).
meanwhile the film itself has been deleted from youtube (a falling out, not horsemouth's he hastens to add) - perhaps it still resides elsewhere. perhaps not.
the photos (digitally stored and printed out), an animation and a few pages of notes still survive.
and the mix? lena platonos, ennio morricone, linda perhacs, pharoah sanders (featuring tisziji munoz), tyrannosaurus rex, popol vuh, amon duul, robbie basho, a cover of jackson c. frank, electric prunes, claude delcloo / arthur jones (africanasia, part 1), uriah heep, tracks he's forgotten, the stranglers (meninblack),
there are a lot of long tracks in this mix. horsemouth thinks it may be his best.
'an intense frost in the night.' kilvert has a cold bath this morning (in 1870). 'lowest point 14 degrees. when I went in to my bath I sat down amongst a shoal of fragments of broken floating ice as sharp as glass.'
this year has been a very quiet one for cultural production for horsemouth (even quieter than the years of the pandemic). he only managed one duo gig as musicians of bremen. he didn't do too badly on gigs attended (considering he was mostly away from the wen). he has taken up trying to learn bell-ringing. he is not reading very much (or at least that's he way it seems to him). he is trying to parlay his blogging onto substack and find a use for it.
he thinks he may come to read more if he attempts to visit hereford more regularly and buy more books.
at 10.15pm christmas eve on BBC 2 there will be a ghost story for christmas, in particular e.nesbitt's a woman of stone. horsemouth will endeavour to watch it.
