he supposes this is how it all starts

horsemouth has been pulling ivy off the front of the house. his main aim is stop it blocking up the chimney and asphyxiating everyone within.

he will scalp the house - it will all regrow next summer. (and repeat)

as usual it is the sheer amount of growth out here that shocks horsemouth.

having done that he is now hiding in doors from the afternoon heat. his eyes are a bit sore as a result of dust dislodged by pulling out the ivy falling into them.

he fell asleep and awoke to world at one replaying a conversation between simon schama and charles moore on brexit, one recorded before the vote happened. he can't imagine why anyone would want to play this.

he will have to be back with the two ladder ladder tomorrow to get the stuff on the chimney itself. he should also pull it away from near the guttering on the back wall. (ultimately a second mission would be to stop it dislodging any tiles).

ok he's had two cheese and mayonnaise sandwiches and a cup of tea and is beginning to recover.

horsemouth has missed the kinloch nelson listening party - he got the time wrong. he has done a books, films, gigs, events list for august but august isn't over yet so he will delay publishing it. once again he is surprised at how much he read and watched and is pleased to be reminded of it. over on substack two complete strangers liked his posts (interesting). he went and had a look at their stuff (he supposes this is how it all starts).

currently it is raining (and a fair amount of rain is due over the next week). whether this will be enough/ is correctly timed to save the arable farmers is another matter. (ah it may have stopped already).  horsemouth joked that welsh water would be delighted but what it really shows is a consistent lack of investment in infrastructure and a failure to plan ahead.

meanwhile water restriction imposed for the first time in scotland!

in other recent news horsemouth's senior citizens railcard has expired - he will therefore have to leave some time to get a new one the next time he's off to town.
