'2025 has seen the driest spring since 1990 across the west midlands. the lower wye has seen the driest march to july on record'. - the environment agency, letter to water abstraction licence holders, 14th august 2025.
monday morning
an entirely written in the morning blogpost
out here a beautiful morning (and it is supposed to be a hot day - perhaps the last hot day for a while).
europe is one of the fastest warming continents as a result of global warming (making growing food in the old way here a challenge). drought in the south is likely to lead to 'a northern march of crops'. horsemouth always liked this documentary 'the jaws of cerberus' .
this is not (strictly) horsemouth's problem but if it leads to rising food prices or changes in the water supply it will be. a farmer in essex is planting olive trees. following the interruption of the commons water over this summer horsemouth is considering purchasing larger water butts to be filled by rain over the winter.
horsemouth has fed the chickens in a bit he will go out and water the tomatoes. he's got the john seymour self-sufficiency book out and is looking at the tasks for autumn.
this evening (6pm BST) a bandcamp listening party with kinloch nelson. the track above, probably lee perry with tommy mc cook on it also (allegedly).
